Vegan Courses at the Vegetarian Society Cookery School

Posted on the 1st September 2017

If you have ever been to one of our workshops at the Vegetarian Society Cookery School, you’ll know we just love veggie food. We love cooking it, we love eating it… but what we really love is showing others how to make it!  It’s a real thrill for us to be able to introduce people to new flavours, techniques and ideas.

Whether you’re a veggie who wants to increase your vegan repertoire, throw a showstopping dinner party, or need some new innovative ideas to cater for others, take a look at what’s on offer at our cookery school. We have a wealth of vegan options on the menu here at the Vegetarian Society Cookery School.

We’ll start off with our most popular one: The Essential Vegan. This hands-on cookery experience covers all the fundamentals of how to cook vegan food– from knocking up sumptuous sauces to desserts to die for, you can master some vegan miracles in just a day…

Next up we have the one we’re all waiting for – how to make vegan cakes on our Vegan Baking Intro experience. Vegan options are popping up on many menus wherever you go, but when it comes to baked goodies vegan options are often lacking. If you’ve ever attempted a vegan soufflé, but it came out flatter than a Shrove Tuesday effort, this course is for you. Whatever your current ability,  after a day with us, you’ll be able to master the secrets of plant-based decadent goodies… and you’ll have everyone over for a slice!

If you’ve ever longed to make gluten-free pastry that tastes as good as the professionals’ craft, The Gluten-Free Vegan experience is the one for you. You will be able to bring together a range of exciting bites, including some gorgeous crusty bread, shortcrust pastry and even pecan pie! Who needs gluten when you can cook this good?

Our courses aren’t just for those with a sweet tooth, and one of our new-for-2017 courses is a constant sell-out: Vegan Indian Street Food. This is not about your local takeaway’s offering – street food in India is famed for its incredible insights into simple cooking that delivers on taste, aroma and satisfaction every time. If you want to know how to make samosas that will be gobbled in a flash, or craft some brilliant chutneys that tangle with every single taste bud, this one is exactly what you’re looking for.

Of course, many of our other courses can be adapted to be vegan – over half of our courses in fact! Some of our most popular and tasty courses that are suitable for vegans include our in-demand The Indian Guru, our ridiculously good The Regional Indian Veggie, The North African Veggie, The Spanish Veggie, The Mexican Veggie, The Italian Veggie, The Caribbean Veggie… you name the cuisine, we can help you to learn how to make it taste amazing!

That’s without even mentioning our brilliant Master the Basics: Real Bread course, The Healthy, Easy Veggie course, and the ever-popular The Essential Veggie which runs over a weekend and can transform your culinary world in just two days!

If these cookery experiences sound amazing to you, but choosing which one to do is just too hard, our brand-new five-day Foundation Certificate in Vegetarian and Vegan Cooking could be exactly what you’re after. With a whole week of expert teaching with our fun and friendly tutors, in a state-of-the-art modern kitchen, you can really take your vegan cooking to the next level.

For those in the catering industry, or those looking to take the next step towards a foodie career, our Professional Chefs’ Diploma will show you the way. Attracting budding and established chefs from all over the world, our diploma course will show you all you need to know to conquer veggie and vegan cuisine and help you emerge as a culinary superstar.

With so many vegan options at the Vegetarian Society Cookery School, it’d be rude not to come down and give it a try…
